SlimFast and "No Sugar Added" Carnation Instant Breakfast were on
my surgeon's list of "approved protein supplements". I used both
at times and tolerated them well.
Good luck!

Every person is different. If you can tolerate sugar than slim fast should
be okay. Sometimes doctors do not recommend it because it has a higher
sugar content than other protein drinks.

I was told by my surgeon and my nutritionist that Slimfast is a no-no.
Mostly becuase it contains a lot of sugar and is high in calories. I was
told if I thought I needed the protein, I was to drink Sugar-Free Carnation
Instant Breakfast.

It also has hardly more protein than a glass of skim milk--why bother? All
those sugar calories, dumping syndrome, etc., and you'd do better with
diet yogurt or a couple of diet fudgesicles and 1/3 of a multivitamin! Eat
real food or buy a proteim powder from the healthfood section, not the diet
section. Ensure is just as bad--all the varieties, and even higher in fat.

yuck to me it just taste nasty... the carnation thing is also on my surgeon
list but ge this is so gross i cant stand the smell of it and 1 cup of milk
plus de carnation thing is just 16gr of proteins... you will have the same
amount if you make a shake with 1/2 cup of yugurt previously frozen, 1 cup
of milk mixed together in a blender for a DELICIOUS and creamy taste... as
long as you tolerate lactose and that thoses 2 agree with you it will be
healtier than that slimfast thing and will provide a good amount of calcium
witch we can never have to much :). good luck. you will find way to make
your own preparation try things like eggs, milk powder or order a couple of
sample from vitalady... she have some mighty dood protein supplement that
mix in water and have a great taste.. here is the link: www.vitalady.com

I drink a SlimFast Soy (fruit flavors)every morning and
LOVE the stuff!! (don't like the chocolate, vanilla, etc...ones at all)
I actually cannot wait to get to it first thing every morning! Particularly
the OrangePineapple flavor - over
ice - yum!!
I had an OpenVBG - don't have to worry about dumping...
Down 45lbs in 5 weeks! Sugar and all!!

My Doc says that my protein supplement should have 10 grams of protein per
100 calories, no more than 7 grams of fat and less than 8 grams of sugar,
per serving.
Not sure what is on the Slimfast ingredients, but I agree with the poster
who said "why bother". If the plain glass of milk is better than
what is inside the Slimfast, then you're better off avoiding the Slimfast
and it will be cheaper too.

Slim fast has a high sugar content. My doc said one of the
soy based ones would be ok...but only one a day. I absolutely
love the orange-pineapple. I partially freeze it and have it as
a special treat some evenings....when I'm craving for something
rich.
