Question:
Could anyone print a list of Vitamins including the type ie liquid, capsule or pill?

I have surgery in 5 days and I have been running all over town. What kind of lip balm? I've heard different kinds of vitamins and I am so confused. My pre-op is in 2 days but with Christmas 2 weeks away, I have to make my time count( like everyone). I can't order on line. Please Help!!!!    — Linda T. (posted on December 8, 2004)

As far as the vitamins you need to ask your surgeon what he/she wants you on. But, just for the heads up you can get adult Centrum chewables at most drugs stores, it also comes in a liquid form but it is pretty ucky. Some doctors will put you on a child's chewable like Flintstones. So, you see that you really need to ask your doctor or dietician. Lip balm is lip balm, I use Chapstick, just get whatever you want.

Relaxxxx.....breathe..... :). Call your doctors office and ask if they have a list for you. My surgeon didnt have us start our vitamins until 4 weeks postop. For the record though I take 2 Viactivs daily (Wal-Mart brand- $5 for a month...also there is controversy in calcium carbonate vs calcium citrate so follow YOUR doctors advice there) , plus a Women's One a Day as well as B-Complex sublingual liquid- Spring Valley brand (Wal-Mart). It is approx $7 for a 2 month supply. Good luck, relax, and may your surgery be a success!!! Shannon Open RNY 2/25/04 251/177/140

Vitamins...my nutritionist told me not to use childrens vitamins...she said they were not adequate for an adult so I found Nature Made Adult Multivitamin Chewable I purchased mine at Cosco 200 for $7.99, if you have Sam's or BJ'S you may want to try there. I also purchased Caltrate 600 plus chewable from Wal-Mart I bought one 60 tab bottle and got another free. As far as lip balm, I am partial to Burts Bee's which I purchase at my local Cracker Barrel, but really any balm will due. I hope all goes well, and you have an uneventful operation!

I take a multivitamin, Trinsicon (iron w/ Folic acid and other stuff..cant remember what), Calcium Citrate (was told that Carbonate doesn't absorb as well in us after surgery) and calcium, magnesium and D (I had bad leg cramps)..You will have a little time after surgery and your doctor may have their own agenda. You can take children's chewables you just must take at least 2 a day.
