Question:
Has anyone had a different insurance company cover their TT than covered their WLS?
I will be getting married and am currently on Cobra...expensive!!! My future husband has a different insurance company...in fact his company offers a few choices there as well....but anyway I will be covered on his plan when I get to the point of needing a TT (probably will need a complete body tuck...lol) Will an insurance company normally cover the TT if the need for it resulted from WLS that was paid by another company? I hope this made sense..... — Donna M. (posted on September 12, 2002)

Blue Cross Blue Shield covered my WLS. The next year my husbands company
changed insurance carriers. Aetna did cover the Tummy Tuck though. This
year the company swithched to United Health Care, I could not get the
breasts, arms, and thighs covered... but I understand that that is
normal... so those came from out of pocket.

YES! Each insurance has to review your request for what you want done. I
would however submit your request on your COBRA now and that way if they
deny you, you can just start over with the new insurance vs having to do an
appeal. My "expensive!" COBRA is paying for my belt-lift and
breast lift and no appeal was needed. GOOD LUCK!
