Question:
How long does the incisional pain last after lap RNY?

my pain lasted for a couple of weeks, I couldn't stretch my arms fully up, now since, I am 3 months post surgery, I feel much better, able to walk around, just feeling good,don't worry the pain will go away soon, take a half of tylenol, and walk it will help.

I had very little pain after 3 days.

I was sore for the first couple of days...but walking makes it easier...The soner the better. And if you don't need the pain meds don't take them. The stop you from moving your bowels and passing gas...which you will need to do. Unless you want to have gas on you stomach, now to me, the pain from the gas was worse than the pain from the surgery

I stopped taking my pain meds the day of surgery and the pain is very minimal. However everyone's pain threshold is different. I am almost 2 weeks post op and feel different, but good! Best wishes to you!

I was off the morphine drip the next morning. I was given crushed percocet to help with the pain the next few days. When I went home, they prescribed these little patches to wear on the bare skin to help with pain also. You might want to check into those. I felt minimal pain after surgery, just mostly pressure and soreness. I actually slept on my stomach on the 6th night! I think the larger you are, the more pain you feel. The weight of the stomach pulling on those little incisions is a little uncomfortable but not intolerable. You may need a little help sitting up or standing up the first couple of days. Good luck on your journey! For me, it was totally worth every minute of pain! I am 5 weeks post-op and I've lost 45 lbs and 20 inches total! Dawn L.

I was off pain meds second day I had 6 small incisions including my drain and it was just a lttle tender till i got the drain out on 9 th day
