Question:
Has anyone ever dumped on...

Honey Nut Cheerios? I'm wondering if the Honey in the Cheerios will cause you to dump, or if the suger in the honey is a natural sugar and o.k. to eat....kinda like 100% fruit juice is o.k., because it's natural sugar. <p> Next week, I start on a soft food diet, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to eat them....but wanted to see if anyone else has tried them and dumped.    — rhonda2u (posted on July 7, 2002)

I have never tried them but honey is on my list of big no no's. It is full of sugar. My nutritionist doesnt allow it. I hope this helps!

I have dumped on fruit juice. I think that you need to talk to your nutritionist or Dr to find out what you should and should not eat. Good Luck

Rhonda, I have had a cereal called Honey Roundups which is sweetened with honey and have not dumped. Everyone is different, so the best I can advise is to try just a small handful, wait 45 minutes and then if no dumping, your probably OK.

Honey is a simple sugar, just as table sugar is a simple sugar. I dump on table sugar, brown sugar, molasses, syrup, AND honey. I don't dump on small amounts of fruit juice and other complex carbohydrates.

It doesn't matter what kind of sugar it is, you can still dump. Just because it's 100% juice it still has fructose, and milk has lactose etc... Also, you can dump on carbs. Everyone has their own level. What effects someone, might not effect you and visa versa.

JUst because it sayd 100% juice, you can still dump. I know this firsthand! I dumped on 100% pineapple juice on the way home from the hospital!!! It was left over from the breakfast the hospital sent up to me...I have also dumped on SF pineapple popsicle...after 4 bites. (silly me...I love pineapple and had to try it...no more!)

Honey is a natural sugar but I have dumped on honey. I have never dumped on fruit or fruit juice. I also get sick when I eat cereal and milk--maybe not necessarily dumping cuz I do watch the amount of sugar in it, but miserable nonetheless--and I don't know why because I can eat dry cereal (or with cottage cheese) and I can drink milk but cannot tolerate the two together. Maybe it is so liquidy that the carbs/sugar hits my intestines faster than when I eat more solid combos. For cereal I would look at the sugars listed. If it is less than 6 grams for your serving size you could try it. But try it dry first then with milk if that goes okay. Or if you like cottage cheese: I LOVE apple cinnamon cheerios mixed with cottage cheese!
