Question:
What are ways to get 70 grams protein in w/out using protein drinks?
I'm 2 weeks post op and really want to start looking for protein sources other than protein powders and bars. My doctor recommended tofu and hummus. I will have to develop a taste for tofu. But I am open to suggestions on new protein sources. — laura T. (posted on June 3, 2001)

Hey Laura....from what I have read or been told about tofu - if takes on
the flavor it is with...so I would add it to cottage cheese...and anything
else...I loved Barbs answer - tuna & cottage cheese...am going to try
that one for sure!! Luv Karan - 7 days post-op

I have a great tofu recipe, makes it taste very asian, but not like tofu at
all. I've done a lot of cooking with tofu. If you would like details,
email me.

Try skim or 1% milk. It tastes a heck of a lot better than any protein
drink! Skim plus has even more protein grams in it. Some people are lactose
intolerant or think milk in the devil in disguise, but I drink it all the
time for a good source of protein. By the way...who wants to eat
Tofu...yuck!

While I love hummus and it is made from beans, it doesn't have that much
protein. I think the kind I buy only has 1 gram while the bagel chips I dip
in it have 3. I wonder if canned chickpeas have more protein and I should
try and make my own.
