Question:
Bad Or Good?!?!?!

I think I am a grazer. I am 4 month post op from lap rny. I cannot eat a small meal, even breakfast or lunch or dinner. With my food I can take a small bite chew up real good, then 15 mins later take another bite. If i eat real slow of a small meal I get queasy, If for a snack of some cheese crackers, i can eat one cracker, 10 mins later I can do the same, if I eat Lays baked chips, i can eat about 5 chips, then 30 mins later I can eat more, I can like this so I dont run the risk of being sick. I heard that grazing is a bad thing, But that works for me. any feed back will be very grateful! you need to talk to your surgeon about getting meds for the 'quesey'. Yes you've lost weight, but your NOT getting any nutrition eating chips and crackers - eventually THAT will catch up with you.

Yep, that is grazing. The whole point of having a pouch is teeny tiny meals. Abnormally small meals. Maybe your expectation of meal size does not match your pouch's idea of meal size? Can you eat 1/4 of a tuna sandwich within 15 minutes? Or 2 crackers with meat or tuna? Then wait 2 hrs before having anything solid? Water in between, and of course, your protein supplements in there periodically.

It is imperitive that you eat your protien first! If you are eating carbs every 15 to 30 minutes (crackers) you are probably not getting sufficient protien. You will go bald if you do not have enough protien. Be careful to get your vitamins in there too. Eating a bite every 15 to 30 minutes is okay, in fact it is necessary the first few weeks. But you will find that you are going longer between and eating two bites then three as time goes on. Protein and water are the two most important things for survival. Develop the best habits at the begining that you can.
