Question:
Some days I can eat a lot & some days I cannot?
Hello All! I am almost 3 months post op,on friday me and my hubby went to dinner at Olive Garden. For my meal I had one bowl of their yummy potatoe soup. My question is I ate the whole bowl of soup, but it too me the whole night to finish it. I did not eat nothing else for dinner only a bite of my hubby pasta, and sips of warm tea. Then saturday for break fast I ate one egg & a 1/4 of dry toast- I was full I had to lie down for 30 mins. But the funny thing is I did not eat my egg & toast maybe two baby bites. I do notice that bread, oatmeal, grits, make me super full. I also I can eat a half cup of Noodles in the cup. What I eat on a every day is I do my protein shake for break fast, lunch some tuna or chicken salad with 3 club crackers, drink all day long, I get about 60 oz water in give or take. For dinner I have some soup or I eat baked fish (sole) a few veggies & maybe some mashed potatoes.. yes I do follow my diet plan from my surgeon. Thanks for your support all--- Nov 10 285/249/ goal is 150. Size 20/22 now yippee!! Ruschell Dawson — Ruschell (posted on January 31, 2005)

You know....I am 2 1/5 years out and I still have that problem. There are
days when I am convinced my stomach pouch has exploded and I am filling up
my belly. Then there are days when half a small sandwich can be so filling.
All this with the same meal.
Be sure to follow your doctors instructions. And don't worry, just eat
small bites and remember to chew chew chew.
My doctors instructions at three months was still very soft protein and
over cooked vegegtables, no bread or grains.

Your still a newbie but things like soups, which are liquidy will pass more
quickly out of the pouch so you can eat more. Things like chicken or fish
or bread/oatmeal are denser and so will stay in the pouch longer and fill
you quicker and even better, keep you full longer. While this doesnt mean
anything to someone only 3 months post-op, when you get much further out,
and I am almost 3 years post-op, eating protein items that fill you up for
a longer period of time is essential...and like the previous poster,
sometimes I think I eat way too much and other times, only a small amount.

As a former OG employee I will say that the "potato" soup (Zupa
Tescana) is one of the thinnest soups they have so if you are just eating
the broth it will take a lot to fill you. I can't wait til I can eat there
again...LOL! Anyways, the next time you go there you'd be better off eating
a baked chicken (yes they can make it without the breading) or something
that is a bit more filling. Good luck on your WL, you are not the only one
who has days were you can't get enough or you fill up too fast.

10+ yrs out now and some days I feel like I am NORMAL again. I can eat a
sandwich and chips comfortably. The next day, it might be just a few bites
of apple or carrot. At our live support group, it appears that this is what
NORMAL (for us) is like. It rather worries me that you ate the soup the
rest of the night, tho. If you meant the course of the meal, then never
mind, nothing. But if you meant you took it home and actually grazed it,
then I'd be concerned about that.

I too love the Zuppa Toscana!<br>
But... as you go, be weary of eating too much food that "slides."
A more solid food will stay in your pouch longer and satisfy you longer.
You can put away a lot of soup without the amount of calories clicking -
and how much protein is in most soups?
