Question:
Please reassure me that this was worth it!
I am exactly 6 days post op. I had the gastric banding with staples. I'm in dull pain, but get nauseous often. It feels like when you haven't eaten for awhile and get nauseous. Is that common? It seems to go away when I eat some soup or something, but is back 2 hours later. I'll be glad when I can sleep on my side. Please give any feedback! — pasquale0768 (posted on April 24, 2004)

My surgeon calls this "Buyers remorse".What you are feeling is
common. The first 3 months after my surgery I thought "What the heck
was I thinking?" Give yourself some time to heal and adjust. It does
get better!I had major complications and even with complications I would do
it again in a second. As for the physical symptoms you are having...sounds
like you might need to be on an acid reducer medication.I had the same
symptoms and it was because my stomache was still producing acid and too
much if it, which in turn was irritating the unhealed tissue in my
stomache.

Juanita,
I, too, had a lot of nausea at first. But I can tell you,
it will pass. It is so worth all of the discomfort and pain. Take one day
at a time, and keep your sights on the results.

Yup it is all "NORMAL" and each day will be a little better than
the previous. Nausea, thoughts of regret, sleeping uncomfortably, swelling,
wierd pains and feeling sleepy a lot more than your norm will persist for a
about 6 weeks. However, this will eventually be erased from your memory and
you will be so happy you're on the losing side. DO NOT become obessed with
weighing yourself, the swelling will mislead you.

Very normal. I only regretted my surgery the first day after because of
the pain. But the first two weeks was miserable. Trust me, after a month
you wont even feel like you had surgery at all. Stick it out, this is the
worst part.

Sounds to me that your pouch is just letting you know that it is hungry.
Mine did that and I either had protein drink or water and it helped me get
my liquids in. I'm 11 weeks out now and I still get nauseous/shaky when I
need to eat or drink something.

Let me assure you...it is all worth it!! The pain, discomfort,
nausea...all worth it. I'm just a few days shy of a year post-op and I
have my life back!!! It's wonderful. Hang in there. It definitely gets
better. Good luck to you!

With me -200 lbs was so worth it, and yes I sure would do it again. Give
yourself chance to heal, when anyone gets cut in, it takes time not days to
heal. you will be ok. also if that nauseous feeling continue call or see
your doc, it maybe a beginning of a ulcer which easily can be fixed with a
few days of meds, not to worry, I had them before and after wls. and I just
take a pill and it disappear in no time. but left alone it will get worse.
Good luck to you.

I had CONSTANT nausea for the first 2 months and wondered what I had done
to myself. Then I FORCED myself to eat (I had ZERO appetite) and the
nausea went away. You MUST get in 800 calories a day to keep the nausea
away.
