Question:
Not a question but wanted to share my experience

Hello, I had surgery two yrs ago last Dec. With in the first year I got down fairly easily to 165 from an all time high of 284. I did lose some before surgery though. 165 is where I stayed for almost another year. I struggled and lost another 10 lbs. I had to learn how to use my tool if I am going to lose more. So last Christmas, I recived as a gift a 3 yr membership to a gym with 5 personal trainer sessions. I incorporated exercise and cardio 3 x a week and it has now been 6 weeks and I am down 5 and half inches all over and down another pound and my body fat has decreased almost 2 whole percents(wow!). I am so excited. It is so much easier losing, exercising, and even working on a good nutritional plan ( I do low carb because that is what works on me) and sticking to it as never before. I love it. My only problem is that I am having trouble eating enough protien to really rev my body up. Is there a good low carb high protein bar out there? I am supposed to eat 80 grams of protein on a 1200 calorie diet. Thanks for letting me brag. It is something I really do not have a venue to do. I am loving my life and I have the surgery to thank as well as the support of this board.    — Tammy P. (posted on March 4, 2004)

There's a protein mix at GNC called Pure Whey,a strawberry and cream mix that is delicious.

Congrats on doing so well this far out. I enjoy several of the Atkins protein bars. My favorites are the Smores and the Peanut Butter chocolate. On the PB bar, the nutrition reads: calories-240; protein-19g; carbs-21 but the net carb count is just 2g. Keep up the good work!

Everyone's tastes are different as far as protein bars. I'd suggest going to Walmart or even GNC (bit more expensive) and getting $20 worth of bars and try them all. My hubby likes the EAS brand, I prefer the Detour, but probably too many carbs for you (14). My hubby is also a part time personal trainer and I can attest that when he gets new clients, they are amazed at the shapes of their bodies and the strength they develop in just over a month. I'd highly suggest a good personal trainer to all of us that can work out. Just ensure that the personal trainer is certified. Hubby also says that many of the so called personal trainers that work for gyms don't know what the h_ll they are talking about and can hurt rather than help!!

My favorite protein bar is Slim-Carb by Glennys. I found them at Walgreens. The Peanut Caramel flavor is the best. It has 12 grams of protein and 2 net carbs (total carbohydrates-19). The bar is 140 calories.
