Hi Ruschell,
My aunt had WLS years ago and her Doc did the TT at the same time as her
RNY. I'd ask your doc. i'm sure they can tell you
good luck

I have heard of a TT being done with WLS but not sure if it was with LAP or
open. The only drawback is that you will be under anesthesia a long time
and it might not be safe. Depends on your current health. Good Luck!

The TT and the Lap RNY would have to be done by different surgeons (or at
least should be done by different surgeons). In addition, why would you
want to get a tummy tuck, lose 100 pounds and have to end up getting
*another* tummy tuck.

The recommendation for plastic surgery post-WLS is to wait until your
weight is stabilized for 5 months. Even a 20 pound drop after plastic
surgery can leave things sagging.

Personally, I think getting both done at the same time is a bad idea and
you'd have trouble finding anyone to do it...JR

I know people have had both procedures together, but I don't understand
why. In my case, although I had a lot of skin at the time of my lap rny,
I have far more after losing almost 100 pounds. If I had done the tummy
tuck then, I don't think I would have had as successful a result from the
tuck. Please fill me in. Thanks!!

People with really large hanging bellies that interfere with their ability
to walk, exercise, or otherwise be mobile sometimes have their pannus
removed at the same time as their surgery. It enables them to be mobile
and help the weight come off after the surgery. This is not a true tummy
tuck, its just the removal of the hanging fat and skin from the waist down.
I have spoken with a couple of people from this board about 2 years ago
who had it done that way and they were happy with their recovery and
thrilled with the benefit of having it done. Its very personal but unless
you have a serious mobility problem because of a very large panus I
wouldn't consider it.
