I have problems with water retention and have been on fluid pills for 10
years. Personally I'd be worried if I drank that much and did'nt go. CALL
YOUR DOCTOR to inquire. Just in case something is wrong.

I never knew when I had to use the bathroom or had the URGE to go until my
4-5th month (same went for sexual feelings). I was numb I guess and I would
just randomly sit on the potty and I would go not knowing I had to. When I
asked about this I was told this is normal, now everything is functioning
again :o) Good luck! 7mo post-op open rny lost 116#

I'm at 16 weeks and I do notice that I can drink a bottle of water (32 oz)
over a couple of hours and not go to the bathroon for 6-8 hours. I do
wonder where it is going. I don't feel like I'm retaining water and I'm
not seeing signs of bladder problems.

I did the same thing for the first 3-4 mos. out. It didn't matter how much
water I drank I would only pee once in the morning and once at night before
going to bed. It didn't slow my weight loss at all.

Like others said, I'd check with your doctor. But, it is not abnormal to
go only twice a day. I only went twice preop and drank tons of liquids and
never retrained water.

Unlike everyone else who's posted, I went a LOT after surgery. Not as
much as I did pre-op (since I wasn't consuming lots of caffeine that made
sense to me) but certainly 6 to 10 times a day - at least. I would have
questioned my doc if it were less. Good luck!

CALL YOUR DOCTOR! It is absolutely abnormal for you to drink that much and
then didn't use the bathroom. Don't think that it's ok. Go to your
doctor. That's a big red flag waving at you. Listen to it. I'm 3 months
postop(open Fobi), I'm drinking 64+ a day and as soon as I finish a cup
before the hour's up I'm going to the bathroom. In the hopsital they told
me to make sure what you put in you comes out, otherwise there's a problem.

Go ahead and call your doctor if you want--however your intake and output
are usually on a 72 hr. "recycling" of balancing out. You very
well may not see the same amount out that you took in for the first 24 hrs.
That is why so many of us "gained" while we were in the
hospital. If you were truly retaining or had other problems with your
output--other signs would be apparent--swelling of extremities, shortness
of breath--wet cough etc. Good luck.
