Question:
will i have to have another TT after a baby?
I am 28 and i am 3 months post op. Im pretty sure that i will have to have a TT after reaching goal. But, i only have one child and i am not married. I hope someday to get married and have more children. If i have a TT and then get preg later, will everything strech out and would i have a big belly again? I would like to hear from anyone who has had a TT and after had a baby....Thanks — courtney B. (posted on December 19, 2002)

I have recently had a tt. I was considering having another child and went
into the consultations with that question. I was told by each doctor that
if I was considering having a baby, I should wait to have the tt because
the procedure would need to be redone after the birth. Pregnancy stretches
the muscles the surgery fixes. The surgeon would have to go back in and do
it again. Plus there will be scar tissue which is hard to cut through.

I was also told the same thing. It's best to have all of your children
first, then have the tt. I am in the same situation. Although I haven't
had surgery yet(surgery date 01/16/03). I was planning on having a tt, but
when I found out that your stomach may return to the way it was after
pregnancy, I reconsidered.

Okay, this is just my personal opinion on this and my insurance paid for my
TT, but if you are young and hate the way it looks and it causes problems,
I would consider getting it done even if at some date in the future I might
have another child. Now, if I wanted to have a child in the next year or
two I would wait. But, it is one of those issues that you just have to
weigh out. I might have another child someday, and I understand that it
might stretch my stomach back out some. If it does and I want it fixed I
will deal with it then. But right now I am sure enjoying wearing clothes
that I never could before and having a flat tummy for the first time in my
life. I know I probably sound a little vain and self absorbed, lol, but at
this point I think I deserve it.
