Question:
Disabled Mom asking for help..................

First I want to say THANKS for all the great advice and topics that we can all get great info from. I would like to ask if there is anyone on here that might be able to help me. I am a disabled Mom of 3 kids. I am having surgery in Nov but I am really worried about clothing. I live off disability and my children ALWAYS come first. I know that I wont be able to purchase clothes while losing the weight. I have lots of nice clothes I can donate for anyone needing them but I will not be able to get smaller clothes. Is there anyone out there that might have clothes sizes 18 and down? I will be happy to pay what I can. My oldest son could work and help me but he has decided that he wants to join the military. I took hiom to the recruiter last week and he is getting ready to go serve his country. Any help in clothing will be appreciated. Melody — Melody F. (posted on October 18, 2001)

Melody, what size are you now? I am a recent post-op (one month) and I am still in size 28s so I need to hold on to my 18s for now, but when I am done with them, I'd be glad to pass them on. I also run a support group that has a clothing exchange. We have so many clothes we've talked about donating them to a homeless shelter. I'd be happy to send them to you instead. Please email me with what sorts of things you like and don't like, and your address, and we'll stay in touch. Click here to email me Good luck with your surgery!! :-)

You could also sell your items on eBay and with the money you make- purchase other inexpensive items of lower sizes off eBay.

Hi! E-mail me with what you might need. I have mostly pants and blouses, no need to pay, I planned on giving them away anyway. They are all in good condition. But I agree with one post, Ebay is an excellent place to sell good quality used clothes, when they get to big on you, it's alos a good place to shop for clothes and get a real bargain. Let me know, Carey

Is there a resale or consigment shop in your area? I have had great luck with them. They are always delighted to get plus sizes. Then after they sell them, you have a credit to spend on stuff that fits you! I replaced an entire wardrobe that way last year after I finished losing my weight. All I had to buy was underwear!! Best of luck to you. Ann RNY 9/10/99 ----- from 260 to 125 lbs.

Thanks Yall for all the great info and suggestions. I am going to check into the consignment shops. I live in a tiny area but there are a couple larger towns near me. I cant wait till I can get the weight off.
