I can't tolerate the shakes either. Try Designer Whey protein bars. The
chocolate expresso is the only one I can tolerate. They have 30 grams of
protein and only 7 grams of carbs. I hope this helps.

I am assuming you cannot try the other idea posted about bars yet. So, why
not eat creamed soups? My surgeon had us do this right away -- made with
skim milk. Put in your processor to get the lumps out. You can get a can
of cream of chicken, potatoe, asparagus, mushroom whatever type of creamed
soup, mix with skim milk. Add some extra nonfat dry milk for added
protein. Or, make your own creamed soup. Also, you can eat sugar free
yogurt and puddings. This will help you get the protein in right away.

I WENT TO GNC THE OTHER DAY CHECKING ON PROTIEN. I AM GOING TO DRINK ONE
SHAKE A DAY BEFORE SURGERY. I FOUND OUT THERE IS A LIQUID PROTIEN. I WAS
TOLD 2-3 TSP. IN ANYTHING TO DRINK IS ALL THE PROTIEN WE NEED FOR THE WHOLE
DAY. WORTH CHECKING IT OUT.

In our WLS classes, we were told you need 60 mg a day of protein. Less and
your body will take it from your muscles and organs. There is a list of
things, including a no cal, no carb fruit drink with 45 grams of protein
and others that taste good on my website, and info about an excellent book
that will help you find out how much protein you are really taking in a
day. You can also mix protein powder in with your unsweetened applesauce,
soups, etc. You can see/print this info at
http://www.lkdobson.homestead.com and I wish you all the best of luck !!!
