Question:
Too many eggs?
My doctor doesn't use a nutritionist so I don't know who to ask this. I am eight weeks post op and the main thing I am eating now is chicken and eggs. Yesterday I had three eggs (not all at once). Is that too much? I know they are a good source of protein. Last night I wanted a snack and instead of eating something I shouldn't I had a hard boiled egg. By the way - I've lost 4o pounds in 8 weeks. — georgiacarol (posted on October 28, 2000)

Eggs are a fantastic and easily absorbable form of protien. They have many
great nutrients. The only danger with eating eggs is the fat content of the
yolk. I don't think 3 eggs a day is too much, and I certainly think that
having an egg in place of a bad food is fine. There is a posting with the
exact nutritional value of an egg, somewhere on here. You might look at
that information when deciding about your eating plan. Good Luck to you.

My physician is Dr. George Cowan in Memphis. He is a leader in this field.
His opinion on eating eggs is eat as many as six a day. You will retain
the protein and "poop out" the cholesterol. He really pushes
eating eggs.
By the way, a friend of mine told me a tasty way to eat scrambled eggs:
2 eggs
Real bacon bits (in the jar in the salad section)
2 slices cheese
I scramble my eggs with the bacon bits. When the eggs are just about done,
I add two slices of cheese.
These really hit the spot and have lots of protein!
