Question:
Seeking High Protein Snack Ideas

I am looking for snack ideas. I find I need something mid-morning and mid-afternoon. I am tired of peanut butter crackers. Anyone have any great ideas for something that will fill me up (protein) and hold me over until meal time?    — Karen B. (posted on March 27, 2003)

Turkey jerky; turkey pepperoni; cheese cubes; protein cookies (wlssuccess.com or protocookie.com); tuna with low-fat mayo & cherry tomatos; turkey bologna or regular turkey, rolled up with cheese; fresh mozarella with tomatos.

YOu can also go to keto foods. I think they have protein rich chips, etc. Lo carb too. I've never tried them though. How about string cheese, it's high in protein and low in carbs. Thin sliced deli meats could help too. Cottage cheese is a good source of protein too, if you like it (I do). They have the little snack size ones too. Good luck to you.

I like, Genisoy soy crisps, cashews, almonds, sport cookies and individual soups - especially bean, but the cup o soups will tie me over till lunch and are a good switch from water on the fluid intake! I also love cheese and liverwurst, detour bar, yogurt and deli meat.

hiya! i always carry a baggie filled with raw, unsalted nuts (walnuts, almonds, filberts, cashews, pepitas, pecans, brazil nuts) mixed with dried fruit (apples, peaches, raisins)...the fats in the nuts is a "good" fat especially since they are not roasted or salted. the sugars in the dried fruits is a "natural" sugar and it doesn't bother me. its filling and convenient. i love green apple with peanut butter. i also like string cheese and cottage cheese. you can make a yummy "salad" of cherry tomatos, mozzarella cheese, olives & artichoke hearts in italian dressing; i also always carry a protein bar with me (i am very finicky about my bars and the only one i really like is called: "Think Thin! Low Carb Diet" i get it at Trader Joe's) i also like chicharones (yes pork skins), they have 9 g of protein with 5 g of fat... hope this helps some good luck! kate

I like Jack Links Beef Jerky (Walmart) and different types of cheese's (HellOfAGood?) has a package of cheese curds (I call them "turds" lol) that are fabulous! I think a whole package of them has around 42 grams of protein. Usually I eat 1/3 to 1/2 at a time. Also I like to get deli slices of meat (in a package) from Aldi's. They have turkey, ham and beef. One slice is around 5 grams of protein. Sometimes I'll eat one-three slices (no bread)when I want a snack. So Jerky, cheese and deli meats are a good high protein, low or no carb snack.

If you like it then cottage cheese makes a good snack. 12 grams of protein for four ounces, low in calories and filling. I never liked it before, but now its one of my favorite meals/snacks.

Karen, my newest addiction is "SOY CRISPS" , they are alot like potato chips, I like the Lightly Salted or Onion & Vinegar, they are 130 calories for the bag, 19g of carbs and 12g of protein. In my opinion, the carbs are WAY HIGH (I do less than 20g a day), however, when I am craving salt, they do the trick! Good Luck! Heather (open rny 8/15, down 102lbs)

I recently discovered lowfat ricotta cheese with all-fruit preserves (blueberry is the best!)--tastes like a blintz without the annoying "pancake", and a good source of protein--yum!

I am almost 2 yrs out and have lost 135 lbs. I have never made it to goal, so I have gotten back on track with the high protein and low carbs, so I have been looking for high protein snacks myself and have found that turkey pepperoni w/ any kind of cheese melted on top is awesome! It's like having pizza without the crust and sauce. I count out the pepperoni as it states in the nurtritional serving put cheese on top, stick it in the microwave for about 20 sec and it is so good, satisfying and you fill full for a good while. I also eat boiled eggs as a snack. I will take more ideas too.
