Question:
What is your vitamin intake
Just wondering what vitamins everyone is taking. My dietician tells me things like viactiv and B12 and tums and a multi with iron, but it sounds like ALOT, what do you all take...brands? — Princess D. (posted on February 2, 2003)

I take the following mixed in my protein drink every morning: 1 calcium
citrate, 1 allergy A&D, 1 zinc (to prevent hair loss), and 1 dry
vitamin E. Two hours later, I take 1 carbonyl iron, 1 chewable vitamin C,
and 1 children's chewable multivitamin. 2 hours later, I take 1 more
calcium citrate. 2 hours later, I take 1 more chewable vitamin C and 1
more children's chewable multivitamin. At bedtime, I take another calcium
citrate. I get all my vitamins from vitalady.com. All of them are in
capsules, and can be opened to put in drinks, foods, etc. It sounds like a
lot, but it becomes second nature after a while. On weekends, I really
have a hard time getting them all in with sleeping later and being on the
go. I do great with them during the week, though.

Each day I take:
1 One-a-Day vitamin with minerals
2 Trinsicon (prescription iron and B-12 my surgeon prescribes)
4 calcium citrate (the only kind of calcium we absorb)
1 biotin (a personal choice to avoid hair loss, not required. Is working
so far.)
The first 3 are the only ones required by my surgeon.

GLEN.....
We who have WLS cannot get our calcium using TUMS or any other calcium
carbonate. As it needs acid, that we don't produce, to make the calcium
digestible. Please consult your surgeon and get the correct type of
calcium. Good Lux

The viatic and Tums are both calcuim carbonate and you will only absorb a
little of them. You need calcuim citrate. Also the b12 should be sublingul
(under the tongue) or injects. The nasal spray or gel caps dont work. Twin
Labs makes one the is called "dots". My doc also requires Vit C
(chewable and two flinstones in the morning and two at night. (takes more
since they are for children. ( a fact many people overlook.9 or one adult
multi in the mornin g and one at night. I also got some Zinc and Biotin to
help with future hairloss and to boost my immune system. Hope this helps.
Your dietician needs to ne educated in bariactric patients sounds like.
