Question:
My PCP prescribed regular strength Wellbutrin in a sugar free liquid form for me
He wants to adjust the dosage prior to surgery. The pharmacist crushed the tablet and mixed it with a sugar free glycerine syrup. The taste is horribly bitter. How are others dealing with this medication? — Donna H. (posted on January 31, 2003)

I have been taking wellbutrin for a year, and have been taking the regular
blue pill whole( I take 300 mgs per day(three pills per day) and it seems
to work fine. In addition, there are other medications I take whicn also
have no negative side effects from ingesting them whole.

I switched from the timed release (blue tabs) to the regular..pink. I split
the pills with a pill splitter at first. I had/have no problems. I hate
liquid stuff...but that is just me.

Aside from the two days I was in the hospital, I've been taking the regular
dose in pill form and had no problems.

I mix mine with either fruity babyfood or sugar-free pudding and just
swallow fast. I hate the taste too.

I take Welbutrin too. I used to be able to swallow any pill with water,
but now find that they often get stuck. I use yogurt to get them down. I
don't crush any pills, but take a spoonful of yogurt, pop the pill into my
mouth and then swallow. This nearly always gets the pill down without my
having to taste the bitterness. I use a small (4 oz.) containter of yogurt
a day to get in all my meds and vitamins.
