Question:
Am I drinking too much water?
Hi I am now 16 days post op and I drink water just like the doctor and nutritionist told me to. I worry though if Im not drinking too much water. I drink at least 8-9 20oz. bottles of water a day. I dont eat much food because Im just not hungry. I can manage to get maybe 2-3 bites down and im so full it hurts. Is this much water normal? I dont want my pouch to be stretched out already. I see the surgeon for a post op visit tomorrow and I will ask him to but I know asking you my friends who have had the surgery I will get some answers based on experience. Thank You everyone. Also--I stay nauseous even the smell of food cooking makes me feel sick. I dont throw up but I sure do have to get away from the source of the odor in a hurry. This happens all the time since the day I had surgery. I quit smoking and Im wondering if that has something to do with everything stinking now. LOL Thank You--Avis Davis — Marie D. I'm sure this water is ok. You can not stretch your pouch with just
drinking water alone. As far as the smell of food, it sounds like you
have gotten your SMELLER back thanks to quiting smoking. Be glad, the
nausea will subside and life will begin to smell so much sweeter! Congrats
on quiting!

the nausea bothered me for over a month I needed drugs from the doctor or I
ate nothing. you can ask for something. Also the smell of stuff bothered
me for about 6 weeks and then it passed. good luck nausea is not
fun....your water intake is great !

Do you stop drinking water at least 30 minutes before eating? That's what
my nutritionist said to do, so that you have enough room for food. They
also said to wait another 30-60 minutes after you eat before drinking water
again. Good luck!

I don't know about the water... however, "perhaps" your water
intake is keeping you from wanting to eat??? But as far as smells making
you nauseous, don't worry about it! It is completely NORMAL. For me it
lasted around 2-3 months, and even now, "occassionally" it will
still occur. Your body does'nt know what the heck hit it (surgery). You are
healing and it all seems to be part of the process. I know how bad it is,
but it will pass. I love the smell of coffee... but that was one of the
worst smells for me. Just give it 2-3 months and it will more than likely
pass.
