Question:
For those that eat frequent mini-meals, how do you get your water in?
Do you follow the no drinking for half an hour before & after your meals rule? This way of eating seems like it may work a little better for me, but I want to make sure I continue to get enough fluids. Thanks so much:0)! — Shannon D. (posted on May 27, 2002)

I MUST follow the no drinking for 30 minute rule or I pay the consequences!
and it is hard sometimes but I am used to it pretty much by now at 4 mos
post op. I always drink first, like a mixture of juice and water first
thing in the am when I wake up, thats 8-10 ounces, then 12 oz skim milk
steamed with espresso and splenda, thats 12 oz liquid plus protein! Then a
16 ounce bottle of water mixed with splenda and sliced lemons and limes at
work, by 10 am I have already drank 35-40 ounces. Then after lunch I may
drink V8, which I LOVE and have no problem drinking 2 big glasses of. I
drink a cup or so of skim milk mixed with sf syrup before dinner and
another V8 or ice tea or water with lemon before bed. It seems like all day
I am either drinking, planning what I am going to eat that has good protein
in it, or timing when I can have a drink! My life may have revolved around
food preop but now it is CONSUMED with food planning and nutritional
dilemas! LOL! But 95 pounds in 4 months is a big reward and I wouldnt go
back for anything! Good Luck! Love Donna

I drink UP TO the first bite of food, then not during or after for 30 min.
That leaves plenty of "between" for my protein & water.
