Question:
Is Designer Protein the brand name?

I'm looking for a good protein supplement. Preferably a taste-less one. I hear a lot about designer protein. Is that the actual brand name or is it just generic for expensive brands found for example GNC or health food stores?    — Carla C. (posted on July 30, 2001)

Carla, yes, Designer Protein is the brand name. You can find it at GNC. IT is one of the protein powders recommended by my surgeon. It is not that bad. Right now I am trying the Vanilla Praline flavor. Comes in plain and chocolate. Mixes great (if you use blender) with Ensure, SlimFast and Instant Breakfast. By the way, I finally found some sugar free Instant Breakfast at Safeway. Good luck on your journey towards better health and happiness!

Designer is a brand name of a mid-level whey protein. It comes in 5 flavors, all of which are excellent for muscle retention and weight loss if mixed with water or sugar free things like Crystal Light. Like anything else, if mixed with milk (even skim), real fruit juices or fat-adders like Ensure & such, it becomes a lead weight to your wt loss, and can increase sugar cravings, rather than reducing them. There are many other proteins that are not as good as, better than or equal to this in properties if this one doesn't flip your switch. Remember that whey cannot be heated, so you can add it to room temp or cold things, but heat makes it lose its integrity.

Hello, I love the designer bars. They are low carb, low fat, low sugar and have about 30 grams of protein. I munch on one bar during the course of the day. They come in great flavors, such as choclate, chocolate expresso, peanut butter, lemon, rasberry, malted milk and mint. Try it, you may like it! I buy them at GNC.

If you are looking for the right protein drink, check out vitalady.com She is a post-op who offers sample sizes of all the major protein drinks with instructions and ingredients, including the Designer brand. She has been there, so is VERY helpful when it comes to picking the right drink without hidden sugars! And the samples are only $1.50 each...WOW. I am excited to try the 15 I just ordered, my surgery is tomorrow so I am a few weeks away from that.
