Question:
BC/BS personal choice PPO paying for abdominoplasty

Assuming that it is reconstructive, and that you have rashes, and yeast infections, and back problems etc etc, how often does insurance pay, and how much of a battle was it? Harder than getting WLS surgery approved? My company approved surgery for RNY really fast, can I hope for the same treatment for plastic surgery?    — claire C. (posted on September 16, 2000)

Claire, I am still pre-op with BC/BS PPO, but I have heard from 2 coworkers who had WLS with the same company that YES, it is covered-- as redundant skin removal/panniculectomy, and often the same surgeon who did your WLS can do a good job at it.. The surgeon usually makes you wait a year.
