Depends where, you live; how extensive of work you need done; are you
willing to go out of the country etc. My insurance paid $23,000 for a full
extended abdominoplasty, 3 days in the horpital and 3 blood transfusions.
Obviously mine was more involved than the norm.

I actually had a LBL and the total charges for hospital and
surgeon etc. was just under $43,000. However, because the lateral thigh
portion I had to pay for was a secondary procedure and because they use a
hospital that offers a cosmetic surgery package price, my total outlay was
just under $6,000, instead of $20,000 when billed item by item. Because I
had to be in the hospital already because of the extensive work with the
abdominoplasty, I did not incur any hosital charges, other than OR time.
So that was a huge savings also.

Everything from this point forward is my dime, yet I do not plan
to go out of the country or look for a cheaper surgeon because as far as I
am concerned what he has done with my body so far is pretty darn amazing.
I'm willing to pay for his perfectionism and deal with his longer surgery
times, because of it.

I self-paid for a full anchor-cut abdominoplasty in Nov/03,and the
surgeon's charge was $6000, anesthesia was $1200 and the surgical suite
(outpatient) was $1350.

My surgeon's fee for an abdominoplasty - hip to hip incision was $4200.
Another $1200 for anesthesia and another $1300 for the surgery room.
