Question:
What are some good foods that lasts long in the pouch (vegetables)?

I have been eating a lot of meats and protein bars, they are helping me to not have a lot of hunger, but when I do not do the protein bars, I get really hungry and I eat things like lots of salads with meats on them. I got scared when I started eating more. Read pouch rules for dummies and realized it is physical and not just old habits. I noticed that the weight loss really does slow down. Is it right to eat protein bars to up the protein count and to eat them as snacks? Thanks!    — Diana D. (posted on January 1, 2004)

I seem to stay fuller when I have eaten something like chicken nuggets, or Wendy's chili with cheese. It's when I eat crackers or bagels that I get hungry quicker. This may not be true for everyone.

Lisa, it's because the crackers and bagels are full of "bad" carbs. They do tend to increase our appetite but I just have to eat a cracker or two every day. Bad me.

Protein bars to up your protein count are alright in my doctor's plan but you need to check with your surgeon or nutritionist to be sure what they would have you do. If it weren't for my protein shakes & bars, I wouldn't get my protein in at ALL so for me, it's a good thing!! Best wishes & God bless!!

if i nderstood your question right u were asking whick veggie keeps u fuller..i think it works the same way as protein...the more dence the veggie is the longer it lasts...i snack on just a couple of carrot..the baby ones with fat free dressing and find i get really full, so if u were to have maybe some chicken breast before hand and then a few carrots...i am possitive u will feel full.also helpedwith bowel movements for me. hugs

Any veggie or carb that is high in fiber lasts awhile and makes you feel fuller. It gives the same effects of a protein.
