Question:
Am I crazy for craving food eventhough I am not hungry?

I am actually craving foods. I dream at night about making me a small lasagne and other foods that are so yummy to me. I am also wondering if I will ever be able to eat a fried oyster w/cocktail and tartar sauce again. I told my mother my fantasy meal is baked ham, collard greens, stuffing, and potatoe salad. I believe I am truly obsessed with food. I am really craving spicy, vinegary, salty things right now. I want spaghetti with meatballs. Did I mention that I am only 6 days post op. Boy I can not wait until I can see if these things will agree with me. I know that dairy does not at the moment. Are there any suggestions for me and my episodes? Lap RNY May 6.    — Diana D. Having this surgery is a great opportunity to learn how to pay attention to the messages that your body is giving you. Carbohydrates usually make you crave more. I learned that because I'd had some, was full, yet wanted more. Not the same feeling with protein. So when I do more carbs than I should and I'm feeling hungry, I think twice about where that hunger is coming from -- true hunger or head hunger. At 6 days you do start thinking about all the stuff you can't have just like you do when you start a diet. My parents had the nerve to have bbq ribs in the house a week after I had my surgery 2 years ago. I remember it vividly. I wanted to try one but psyched myself out of it because of trying to make the surgery work for me. You'll go thru these stages. Now it's time to change your thought process and find something else to satisfy you. (for me it is shopping and exercise). Good luck and God bless!

Welcome to Head Hunger! It's completely normal. I ended up reading lots of books, reminding myself that I'm not really hungry, looking at recipe books (I don't know WHY that worked but it did). It'll pass. Hang Tough!

Very normal! I am 7mo post-op and I just started being hungry and craving foods when I was 5-6mo post-op. Now I eat chips almost everyday, crackers and even trying my luck with the sweets...I get myself sick alot :o( This helped me alot with the weightloss, but did'nt cure my urge to crave my favorite foods. I am doing better, trying to let go of my fav. 'bad' foods. Good luck and you will be eating in no time :o)
