Question:
Has anyone made sugar cookies with SPLENDA? How did they come out?
I have a recipe book from SPLENDA and also looked on their website. I recently made white cupcakes with splenda, taste pretty good. You can tell they are different, but still are quite good- my family eats them too. ANyway, I wanted to make sugar cookies using Splenda for a party- I have the recipe, but I wanted to know if anyone else has tried it and do they taste okay. Since the basis of a sugar cookie is sugar, they may taste different. I can always make them now and then make them again if they taste ok, just thought I woud save some time and ingredients. I've found Splenda to be great in things like puddings and cakes. HOWEVER I
was very disappointed in it when my Mom made some sugar cookies with it.
For some reason it did'nt do to well with that.

I am diabetic and my mother in law bakes cakes and peanut butter cookies
for me using splenda and they taste fantastic. she is a sweetheart for
doing it because i know that stuff is kind of expensive. but they are very
good:)

I like Splenda for things like pudding or pie where the whole point of the
sugar is just to sweeten the food. I found out it doesn't work so well in
actual cakes or cookies because of the structural differences between
Splenda and sugar. But, I have had a LOT of success using like, 3/4
Splenda and 1/4 real sugar for cookies and stuff. Good luck!

One thing you might try is granulated fructose. i have made a pound cake
pretty successfully with it (then cut that up and layered it with SF jello,
fruit, and SF pudding to make a trifle but that's another story! ;). It
isn't a non-caloric sweetner, but if you tolerate fruit sugars it probably
won't make you dump. and I can't tell the difference in the taste.
