Question:
Sorry- Q about calories- I go to the gym & don't know how much to eat @ 8months out..
I'm 8 months post-op and down almost 105 lbs. I'm very happy about it. I now go to the gym and lift weights 4 times a week as well as do 30 minutes of cardio. I never counted my calories until now, but realize I eat about 1100-1200 calories a day. I feel like this is alot, but I am exercising, and also have an ulcer where it feels better to have food in my stomach. My mom thinks I need to stop fretting over the calories and worry about my health, but I'm still concerned. I was on a plateau as usual, but am losing weight again, I just don't want to overeat. How much are you all eating? Thanks in advance! — Lezlie Y. (posted on February 4, 2003)

Lezlie, I am only 6 mos out, put my nutrionist has me eating 1000-1100
calories per day, so, I assume you are fine with that amount at 8 mos out.
I do know that by the time we are a year out, we should be closer to 1400
cal/day (ps. I work out also, so, I need the food too). Heather (Open RNY

Your calorie count is just fine. At 8 months - a year, the calorie count
is between 1000-1200. After that, it depends on whether you want to
continue losing or maintain. If still losing and you don't want to lose
anymore, add calories. It still boils down to calories in = calories out.

Lezlie-I am now just 7 months out and I've been struggling with a
plateau...down 83 lbs. I'm very very happy about that and feeling soooo
much healthier--am no longer morbidly obese--just severely obese but I feel
like I eat a lot--I tend to eat just a little bit every 2-3 hours it seems.
From all I've read the calories you are taking in is right on target and
you're certainly exercising well so pat yourself on the back..-105 lbs is
AWESOME!!!!! bambi :o)
