I can't see why it would affect the protein content of your protein shake - Just enjoy the good flavor. Anything that works to help get the extra protein in! Also drink lots of water to help counteract whatever caffeine is left in the coffee.... Margie B

Some proteins do NOT stand up to heat. You could probably do a little research on the 'net and find out. Since whey is made from milk and cooking does not hurt the protein in milk I would assume it is OK. I use a milk & egg protein powder that says it is OK to cook with. I know that a lot of people say they mix ProCel in their coffee and it is whey.

Hey Mary: I have been drinking Designer Whey Protein for a couple of years hot. I e-mailed Next Protein and asked if it was okay. They said it would be fine. I used a thermometer to make sure I did not exceed 140 degrees. That is not real hot, but just hot enough for me. A couple of times mine was hotter and I could tell the protein was breaking down as it started clumping. I also blend it for just a few seconds to make it smooth. I hope this makes sense.

I don't see a problem with it. Just make sure that you read the directions carefully to see if it says anything about heat toloration.

As for your question about finding the nutural designer whey cheaper.....I had my local health food store to order it for me. I buy the small can for $12.99 and the large can for 22.99. It beats going to GNC and paying $17.99 and $33.99.
