Question:
What are my chances on not needing a Panniculectomy?
Hi, I am 27, had two kids, am 5'4", and was 250 at my highest. I have lost a total of 56 pounds so far, (194). Since my first child was born when I was 20, I have always had an apron of sorts. The odd thing about it is... is that it is only above my thighs. There is no apron that hangs over pubic area, it is somewhat 'firm' there. And what hangs over the thighs is only 1 1/8 inches. So it isn't very big. When I lay down, it disappears too. (Don't know if that is normal or not). It doesn't scoot over to the hip area. <p> So my question is, does it sound like I should look into having surgery done? Or is there certain type of exercises that help reduce the panni if it is a small one. I know that it will never be perfect, but I want clothes to fit right, and to look ok, in the buff. :) Thank you very much! — [Anonymous] (posted on October 30, 2001)

No one can predict...you have to wait and see. But from my observances
over the years, women who are on the "small" side when they have
wls
generally don't need panni's. You should do the appropriate exersizes
for that area, you probably won't ever have a perfect abdomen, but you
won't need a panni. I have two friends....we've all lost around 125lbs.
and none of us needed panni's. It seems to be an issue for those who start
out in the 350lb. plus range.
