Question:
Has anyone gained weight doing Weight Watchers?
This is my second time around to do weight watchers and I am gaining weight. I did lose almost five pounds the first week and then the next two weeks I have been gaining. The first time I tried WW since surgery I gained weight also. I can not figure this out. Needless to say I am not going to continue WW. I am now at 294 from 289 the day I started WW. I had gotten down to 263 for my lowest coming from 389 the day of surgery. I feel like such a failer. I can not seem to stay on track. I am trying to convice myself the only thing that is going to help me is to stop eating. What can I do? Help somebody!! — twin94 (posted on September 28, 2005)

The last time I joined WW right before my surgery, I gained eight pounds
the first week and seven the second. I quit right then and there. i was
following the program trying to lose on my own "one last time".

It is good to know that this has happened to someone else other than me. I
do not mean that in a bad way but I think my body has changed so weird
like. What do you think it is? I did not mean to post anonymously.

I was told, NOT to do Weight Watcher, but South Beach. The reason is,
South Beach is geared for lean proteins, good carbs and good fats. This is
what we need post op. Weight Watchers allows us to go back to our bad
habits that got us here in the first place. White flour, sugar, not enough
fruits and vegtables, etc. Good Luck.

My doctor told me that I would have to follow the Atkins diet for llife.
(Being diabetic, I cannot do the South Beach because it has too much
sugars, which are found naturally in fruits and vegetables). You cannot
lose if you do any diet other than a high protein/low carb diet. Most
diets other than Atkins and south Beach allow too many carbs.
