Question:
My dr. prescribed Trinsicon, which the pharmacist subsitiuted Foltron,

Is this the correct Iron that we as post-ops should be taking? I was trying to research to see what kind of Iron Trinsicon was , but couldnt find any info. Thanks    — msstacey (posted on March 16, 2004)

This is an excellent site to compare different Iron compounds. http://www.pdrhealth.com/drug_info/nmdrugprofiles/nutsupdrugs/tables/iron.shtml I take Trinsicon and should be able to tell you in a week or so how it is doing for me since I just had labs drawn just last Friday. My Iron before going on Trinsicon dropped to 30 and my B-12 was 393 on bi-weekly shots. I have faithfully taken the Trinsicon for the past 2 months and have had no B-12 shots in that time frame. Email me personally and I will let you know how it turns out. Jen

I'm one year post op and have been taking Foltrin the entire time. Labs are perfect. I take two a day. I'm 52 years old. It is my understanding that Foltrin is another name for Trinsicon.

I've been taking the foltrin/trinsicon since 11/01. I haven't had ANY problems with my iron levels. They have tested them probably 8 times since my surgery and they always come back normal. Obviously, the medicine works.
