Question:
Does anyone know how much plastic surgery Canadian OHIP will cover ?
I am going to have an appointment with a plastic surgeon in August and I was wondering how much I can hope for to be covered by our Canadian health coverage. Any coverage is a blessing but my family doctor's nurse thinks that it will be covered for what ever I need fixed. If anyone can help shed some light on this I would really appreciate it. — UMMADUMMASS (posted on June 16, 2003)

Are you seeing Dr.Hurst in London? From what I have heard what ever you
need done will be done as long as you are getting rashes, sores, you have a
lot of skin-on-skin. DrHurst is experienced with wls patients and can write
up the application to OHIP with carefully chosen words to get the majority
of the nip and tuck done. He does torso and breasts, not sure if he does
inner thighs and upper arms. He does breast reconstruction post mastectomy.
I live in Windsor Ontario, am preop with DrParekh in Guelph. I'm sure I
will see Hurst when the time comes. Good luck with your consult. email me
if you like.

Hey Caroline, you probably won't get any more replies here. This site is
sorely lacking in Canadian members who post at the Q&A. There are at
least a hundred Canadians who are members but don't seem to participate
much. There are so many insurance issues posted daily by the US members,
maybe the Canadians lose interest in the Q&A part of this site. If by
any remote chance an American is reading this, there is absolutely NO
insult intended. I love reading all that I can find here, the profiles and
Q&A are my favourites.
