Question:
3 weeks post lap band, eating too much
I am 3 weeks post lap band and am finding that my weight loss is minimal and I can still eat loads? is this normal, has my band slipped or do I just need my first fill? — wendy M. (posted on December 8, 2002)

If you're only 3 weeks out, you probably haven't had a fill yet... that
usually happens at about 6 weeks post op. The majority of bandsters don't
get any/much resitriction without a fill... one doc I talked to said not to
expect any weight loss until at least one fill (or 2, or 3, or more)... so
you have nothing to worry about. :)

The beauty of the band is that in the recovery phases of your surgery you
are able to eat. This ensures you are able to get all the nutrients you
need to heal. It may take anywhere between 1 and 6-10 fills before you are
adequately restricted. This allows you the time to physically and
emotionally get used to your new way of eating. You will lose weight!!!
