Question:
Will a panniculectomy help tighten up the bulging pubis are?
Ok I just read the question about the "bulging pubis area"... I am concerned and really cannot afford any other kind of reconstruction that won't be covered under ins... I have gotten approval from my insurance to have a panniculectomy (surgery date is Dec 12 ) and am hoping that it will help with the bulging fat on my pubis... Anyone out there that just had a panniculectomy and it helped with this prob? Please give me your input... Thanks, — Bonnie S. (posted on November 11, 2002)

I've seen this personally and have some advice. Check with your plastic
surgeon and tell him/her your concerns. I've seen great outcome if they do
some liposuction in that area along with the tummy tuck. However, I heard
of one woman who had hers pulled up and afterward her sister said it looked
awful because *it* was right there, up too high, just standing there
staring at you! LOL Again, just talk to the plastic surgeon and tell
him/her you want to look normal and not havr your vaginal area/labia pulled
up too tight so that you look abnormal. Good luck!

Every surgeon is different. You need to talk to your surgeon about your
concern and make sure he's going to give you a normal appearance in that
area too. I've talked to lots of women who've had tummy tucks and most
often that's what they're dissatisfied with. I guess they either
"assume" its going to be taken care of or are just to modest to
talk about it with their surgeon. You should know what to expect before
you have surgery.

I haven't had PS yet, but have met with a few surgeons. I had no problem
raising this isue and he assured me that he'll take care of it. I am
having a lower body lift with an abdominoplasty.

I asked my ps about this issue and he said mine is fine, and it doesn't need
any tucking or pulling up ( so to speak) but he said the same thing one of
the other posters said , he doesn't like to pull it up because then it will
look funny, like the other poster said, I trust my ps, he said he will
make me look gret and he's the best as far as I know, guess I will find out
on December 2nd... when I have my tt/breast/lift/reduction..
