Question:
Has anyone had the surgery done in RI?
Who was your doctor and how was your experience? I can only find 2 doctors so far in RI who do it. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks. — Pia P. (posted on July 29, 2002)

I had my surgery done in RI April 24th. My surgeon was Dr. Dieter Pohl in
Johnston. He is a wonderful surgeon and an all-around wonderful human
being. I would suggest that you check out my profile and then scroll to
the bottom to click on the link lableled with Dr. Pohl's name. Follow the
link and you will come across the feedback for all of his patients who have
posted here. You will also find a link from my profile to Roger Williams
Hospital which also gives feedback. If you have any specific questions,
feel free to email me! I am 14 weeks post-op and down 63 pounds and 31
inches!

Hello! I too had Dr. Pohl out of Johnston, RI and I could write a book on
how awesome I think he is! He is affiliated with Roger Williams Hosptial.
There are other Dr's in RI too, like Dr. Roye, and Dr. Harrington-both are
out of Rhode Island Hospital. I have friends who have had both of these
surgeons and would be happy to give you there emails-you will find everyone
is very emphatic that their surgeon is the greatest but thats because we
have all been given new lives courtesy of these highly skilled Dr's! If you
have any questions please email me-we also have a support group meeting the
third thursday of every month and there is one for the Rhode Island
Hospital group next Wednesday if you are interested. I went to these as a
pre-op and found it very helpful. I am 9 months post op and down 150 lbs, I
still have 40 more to go but I will get there!
