Question:
doctor
I am in the Houston, Tx. area and saw a plastic surgeon and had a consultation with him. I really liked him as a surgeon but his office staff is a different story. They have said they would keep in touch with me and follow up on insurance issues ect. well its been over 6 months and I have yet to hear from them. Is it common for doctors to do this when a patient is looking to get it covered thru their insurance? Should I start looking for another surgeon? — graciefoster (posted on September 29, 2005)

It sounds like you got lost in the shuffle of things. I would get on the
phone and find out what is going on. It is not common to be left hanging
this long. You may want to find someone else as your plastic surgeon it
sounds like s/he has a very disorganized office, I would be worried about
them making my surgery arrangements and if they had done everything they
should have once I was approved if you know what I mean? I would always
have that questions in my mind wondering if they did everything they should
have in the process.

hello,
like you, i too have been lost in the shuffle, i called the dr office (he
is suppose to be real good so im not sure about the change thing in my case
"Jawad" in ocala) they have little to say so i asked if i should
call the insurance co myself..YES they said so i did , i found out i was
denied in apirl (started this in dec) and have been waiting for 8-9 months
for some kind of approval word!!! i am clueless..now what...the dr office
told me to send more stuff in, pictures, letter, whatever so they can do a
reconsideration.. i am bummed about the whole process..i personally think
the DRs office got hungup in the cut off for some insurances (like BC cut
covering the surgery in dec) so they got a flood of potential patience and
then last month i saw a tv commercial for the lapband procedure so...maybe
im just a small pawn in a world of checkerboards.?? good luck to you
