Question:
What do I do if I wake up hungry?
The past few nights I have woken up every 1 1/2 hours because my stomach is growling and I am hungry. The first couple of times I drank water. The other times I ignored it and waited to fall back to sleep. This is okay for now - but when I return to work, I can not be waking up like this - or I will be exhausted. Any suggestions? I just am really wary about eating at night. I dont want to develop a bad habit (I already have enough that I am trying to deal with lol) BTW, I am 2 weeks post-op, eating soft foods, and my last meal (last night) was at 8pm. i remember the first couple of weeks post-op my stomach made the most
interesting noises hahaha. like it was asking me what the heck i did to it
haha. you might not be waking up because you are hungry, but because you
are dehydrated. it is so hard to get in all the fluid the first couple of
months post-op. because our stomachs are still healing it is hard to know
when you are hurgry or full for atleast 2 months(what my doc said). i think
you did right by drinking water, but if you think you are truely hungry
maybe you could drink a protein shake. just remember to count that in your
daily intake and that it isn't a freebie. best of luck and congrats on your
surgery!

i too thought i was hungry when i first got home from the hospital. but
it turns out, i wasnt really hungry, nor were those noises growls so to
speak. it was just my pouch healing and doing its thing. i think it is
really hard to differentiate between noises and feelings when so new to
having this surgery done. be patient, it does get so much better!

I get tremendously strong hunger pains in the middle of the night. I don't
think they're what wakes me up, but I have always tended to wake up several
times during the night. I basically just ignore the pains until morning.

Kimberly, I'm 7 1/2 months post op and still wake up some nights hungry.
I usually have a cheese stick before bed. I also keep a water bottle next
to my bed. When I wake up at night I drink as much as possible then go
back to sleep. It usually helps keep me full till morning. My witching
hour seems to be 2am. Hope this helps...

You body is REALLY hungry so feed it. Why not do deli meats, cheeses or
other protein? Avoid carbs ESPECIALLY at night!
