Question:
I don't feel like threre is any sense of apetite control

I'm so afraid I am going to just start gaining.(I have lost about 15 lbs) I've started eatting more frequently,I don't feel full.I'm so scared. I had the Lap-Band so I know that there are options, adjusting the band. It's just scarey. How has it been for oter people who have had the Lap-Band? Thank You. Mary    — Mary W. Well, I think it greatly depends on when you had your surgery/how high your BMI was to begin with, and when was your last fill. I also have the LapBand and my weight is coming off on the slower side. However, my doctor told me right after surgery that my stomach was on the smaller side when he placed the band(he informed of all scenarios in advance). He also said that that would greatly influence the amount of restriction that I would have. I also didn't have as much fat on my stomach (the actual organ), and this too will affect restriction. If you started out smaller in either of the scenarios you basically will have to "tweak" the band til you get it right. I am improving with each fill.

I wish you both luck, I myself am going for the RNY, most of the Drs where I live are steering away from the Lap band because of the weight loss being slow & them moving, breaking etc....! I also know that usually the band has to be adjusted, sometimes quite often. They can move and slide down, ask your Dr. about it and see what they say. I wish you luck and I hope you accomplish your goals!

Mary: When was your last fill? It is probably time for a fill. I am 9 weeks post-op and I have lost 22 lbs. I have had to have 3 fills. My doctor told me that some people require fills more often. Once you get the right amount in your band you will not be able to over eat. I would call your surgeon and tell him how much you are eating. The band is wonderful and I am so glad I had this surgery done, despite what bad things people will say on this site, the band does work. I hope this helps. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
