Question:
Saggy and baggy removal approval???? Aetna PPO?
Has ANYONE been approved for a lower body lift (stomach, thighs and butt), breast reduction and lift, and arm skin removal from AETNA PPO?? It's open enrollment time and I need to know what to go with in order to get the plastic surgery ball rolling. HELP ME PLEASE!! :) Thanks! — Paula Prichard (posted on November 4, 2002)

Hey There!
You can go to aetna.com and there it tells you what they cover. (you may
need the proper terminology). I was looking into it myself for when the
time comes (i am still pre-op) and I know if your skin hangs lower than
your pubic bone they will cover it. I am not sure about the rest. Good
Luck!! :-)

I've got Aetna, and while I don't yet need plastic surgery (I'm 6 weeks
post-op), their website only specifies that they will cover medically
necessary tummy tucks. Nothing at all on there about anything else. Most
insurance companies only cover the tummy tuck or panni, though if you can
give them some really bad pictures, you might get something else covered.
I plan to take lots of pictures of everything hanging and have the doctor
write a letter about "reconstructive surgery" and see how that
goes.

Aetna has a policy for an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and fro breast
reduction, but they will not cover just a lift, and I do not see where they
will cover a lower body lift. I know that they are hard to get this covered
through. I am workingon the breast reduction and the TT now. From what I
have heard from other people, an initial denial for the TT is to be
expected, and an appeal will be necessary. Good Luck to you!

I was just approved for the TT and upper arms. They told the doc to submit
the others(hips, thighs, butt, and breasts) when he is ready. Good Luck!
