Question:
How much does a breast lift cost? Are there any ways to get ins. to pay for it?
I am down 85 pounds and my boobies are pretty saggy. I think the only "plastic" surgery I may want/need to have is a breast lift. I have BCBS of Minnesota PPO. Does anyone know if they cover it? How much does a breast lift cost on average? Is it really painful? — Kim B. (posted on July 30, 2002)

I can help with a couple of reasons for the dr. to send into the insurance
company. My sister who had the WLS over a year ago is looking into getting
a reduction. Her dr. said that back pain and reoccuring rash would be what
he would submit for her. She suggested saying that her being saggy
interfered with "relations with her husband". Dr. said that the
insurance company wouldn't care about that, but the office staff would get
a big kick out of it. Needless to say, she didn't put that reason down.
She is now awaiting an answer from her insurance.

I went from a pre-weightloss size 46J to a 40DDD. I had ruts in my
shoulder and pain between my shoulder blades. My insurance company paid
for the reduction surgery with no problems. The surgeon removed three
pounds of mostly skin and I love it because now when I take my bra off they
stay there instead of falling to my waist!!!! I've had five major
surgeries in my life and this was by far the easiest. I was out shopping
for a new washer and dryer on the way home from the hospital. I went back
to work a week later. Good luck.
