Question:
How come I can eat so much and not get sick?
I lost 100# in 11 months and I fluctuate 5 pounds weekly up and down. I am not sure how much I should be eating now. I can eat 2 cups of lettuce and 1 piece of cheese and 1 strawberry in one sitting, is that to much for 11 months out? — renee J. (posted on May 6, 2002)

Don't forget that as time goes by, the size of your pouch increases. Think
of your stomach as being similar to a balloon. Pre-WLS the stomach is most
likely stretched to incredibly large proportions. Even though the surgery
puts the stomach at one particular size, the biology of the stomach allows
it to expand some. However, it won't expand to the same proportions that
it was pre-surgery. I remember a time when I couldn't finish a whole cup
of yogurt. Now I can have the whole cup and a separate piece of fruit 5
minutes later without feeling stuffed and uncomfortable.
