Congrats, Kim! Sounds like you're doing very well here...I would add
protein supplements (you want to supplement 40 grams or so a day, according
to my nutritionist). As far as what to take with what: Try to take the iron
with a Vitamin C-enriched drink, like Sugar-Free Tang. It helps to absorb
the iron better. Also, don't take either the iron or the B-12 within three
hours (before or after) of drinking tea or coffee; it hinders aborption.
Take the supplements separately from one another (an hour apart at least is
a good idea). Good luck! Soon we'll be welcoming you to "the other
side"!

Congrats on your surgery! It looks like you have taken things into your
own hands already. I hope you are not me and went out and bought all that
stuff and haven't touched a one of them. My doctor has a certain protocol
and some of my supps are by prescription ONLY. The ones I had bought were
ones that would not be absorbed by our new tummies. I would really check
with your surgeon soon, you may still be able to return some of the stuff.
Also, you need protein supps, but again ask your surgeon. Good luck! See
you on the other side! Amy

I am the original poster....my doc gave me a small list of supps to
get.....no prescriptions, just over the counter stuff. However, the list
did not say how to take them and how to space them apart. I ordered some
protein samples from Vitalady and have Casec Powder on order. I am just
wondering if there are any other vitamin supps that I should take? I have
never taken vitamins except for prenatal and want to make sure that I get
everything I may need. Thanks so far to those who have posted. :-)

Hi Kim, I know you are getting anxious and will be so glad when the surgery
is all over. My dr. told me to get flintstones vitiams and that was all
until my 6 week check up.the Dr. gave me the b-12 shot and also gets the
iron and calcium for me that way I'm taking what he wants me to have.I took
ensure lite on week 2 up to week 6.Now I take a protein drink from
wallmart called Total Soy Meal replacement. It has 140cal. 11 sugar,17
protein and its not to bad tasting.Hope this will help, you will do great
,looking for you on the other side. [email protected] NANCY M.

Hi Kim:
I'd also go ahead and get some biotin and zinc. Supposedly, they help to
lessen the hair loss down the road. It certainly couldn't hurt to start
with these early on. And make sure your calcium citrate has vitamin D in
it to help with absorption.

You need amino acids too... they help keep you from losing your hair. There
is a great liquid vitamin/mineral/amino acid mix that gives you what you
need in minerals and amino acids and can't get enough of after wls.The
vitamins in it are great, too! Here is a website to help... it's called
Maximol Solutions:
