Question:
Can someone please tell me how much biotin I should take?
I have read several times that some people are taking Biotin for the hairloss. Could someone tell me how much Biotin I should take? I asked the pharmacist because they had several micro grams. Like 1,000 or 500. So can someone tell me the amount I should get. My surgery is just a few weeks away and I want to get everthing that I need to. Also, is it recommended to take carnation breakfast bars or Boost? Thanks ahead of time for the answers that I know will come. Thanks, Darline — Darline H. (posted on August 11, 2001)

At my nutrition class which is a part of my WLS process, I was told 50
milligrams of Biotin. I would advice you to call your doctor's office
though because it may differ among doctors, I don't know.

Darline, I take one GNC Women's Super Biotin, 600 mcg, daily. I've had no
problems thus far. This dose provides 200% of the daily allowance. Plus,
if you look at your regular multivitamin it should provide extra. For
instance, my vitamin (twice daily) covers another 13% of daily allowance.
So I'm getting 226% and it seems to be making my hair thicker. Hope this
helps!
