Question:
I was just wondering if anyone could give me a general idea
as to how much a face lift could cost? Particulary removal of the excess skin from a double chin? And, I'd like to get a general idea on removal of batwings as well. Thank you. — Happy B. (posted on July 2, 2001)

I recently had a plastic surgery consult for brachioplasty (armlift). The
surgeon's fee alone for this procedure was $3200, and the additional
charges for operating room/anesthesia would bring the total to
approximately $5000. These charges were figured on having the procedure
done in the office with no overnight stay as opposed to a hospitalization.
The charges seemed high to me, but I have had no experience with plastic
surgery and they actually may be in line with charges that other patients
have had across the country. My insurance providers denied coverage for
brachioplasty and I have heard from several sources that appealing that
decision would be useless because the procedure is always considered to be
"cosmetic". I too would be interested in hearing from any
post-ops who achieved insurance coverage for this procedure. Best wishes!
