Question:
Need advice on liquid protein

Hi everyone: I can't seem to stomach the powdered protein mix. Can anyone recommend a good liqiud protein? I can't seem to find one that has a lot of protein grams and lesser amounts of sugar and carb grams. Thanks Lorraine    — Lorraine L. (posted on May 23, 2001)

Hi there, I use Designer Protein, available at GNC, a large container is 27.99. I use 2 scoops and get about 34 grams of protein. No sugar and only 4 grams of carbs in it. I suggest the strawberry, it's GREAT tasting. The chocolate is pretty good too. Stay away from the vanilla. I put mine in a sport drink bottle with a straw and I find I can get it down quicker and faster that way. Best thing is it mixes with water, no milk. It's about 180 calories for the 2 scoops mixed with about 10-12 ounces of water. Hope this helps and good luck. I haven't yet found anything that taste good that has no carbs at all. I tried one but found it to taste what I can imagine wallpaper paste tasting like.

Another vote for Pro-Complex. You can call (800) 705-5226 to find where sold. It also mixes with water. I like vanilla and put it over ice after mixing...tastes great really cold.

You didn't say which ones you tried & didn't like. The soys & pharmeceutical grade products tend to be gritty, so that may be what you didn't like. They wheys are smoother and will shake up nicely in water, usually. There are liquids in cans, liquids like juice and liquids you can take by the tblsp. But what do you like and not like? Look for things that deliver 30g of protein and less than 6g of sugar per serving, as we can't absorb more protein than that in one serving.

Lorraine, I have found a WONDERFUL liquid protein. It is called ISOPURE. It is sugar free, carb free, 40 grams of protein per 20oz. bottle. It has the consistency of kool-aid and tastes similar to Crystal Lite. It is a little on the expensive side (2.99-3.49 per bottle) but it comes in several flavors and is definitely worth it.
