Question:
Are there post ops out there who have a decreased appetite during

I had my surgery last October and have not had a chance to experience this problem. Even pre op, my appetite decreased with the summer heat. Since it is starting to get hot now, I'm not as hungry as before. Do you graze during the extreme heat? What do you eat to try and keep you nutrition at an optimum. I'm at a point now of being so fed up with food, I don't know what to do. I just don't want to compromise my health by not eating.    — Jan M. (posted on May 18, 2001)

Last summer was one of the most stressful I can remember, what with a death in the family and a number of awful things hitting me at once. I reverted back to basics. 6-8 protein drinks a day, 3 protein bars per day (which make me drink more water), and food every few days when I was interested. My weight simply did not move all summer long, which was good, because I was where I should be. I was afraid of losing "control" over it--the main fear, and having it wander all over the map. I use protein like a whip 'n chair, as needed.
