Question:
Why don't I feel full anymore?
I'm one month post-op and lost 42 lbs, that's good but I don't feel full anymore.I think something might be wrong, I started out feeling STUFFED on two ounces of food but today I ate a whole softshell taco(with no lettuce)and half a can of Diet Coke!! I stopped even though I felt like I could have eaten ten more!! What's wrong with me, I really want this to work but I think I might have damaged something inside by eating to much or just eating the wrong kinds of food to soon. Does anybody know what a disruption in the staple line or a leak feels like? I'm scared — Joy S. (posted on April 7, 2001)

One thing you must NOT do is drink with your meals and don't drink diet pop
either!! You are so soon post op and the carbonation in pop may stretch
your pouch. It's best to avoid pop at all costs! When you drink with your
meals you are actually flushing the food out faster from the pouch
resulting in that hungry feeling much sooner and more often. Try and stop
drinking a half hour before your meal and don't start drinking again until
an hour has passed. This is all advice from my surgeon and it's worked
well for me so far. At first it was hard not to drink with meals and I
suffered watching the clock for the hour to pass, but now I find it easy to
do that. As well, over time the pouch will stretch slightly to accomodate
more food....this is normal. I just keep measuring my food to start and go
from there. HUGS and much luck,
