Question:
Zenical. Is it safe to take zenical after a vbg? This would eliminate 30% fat and make
bowel softer. — Pamela G. (posted on June 23, 2000)

I wouldn't think you would have a need to take weight loss medication after
a VBG; in fact, I would be concerned about any doctor that would have you
on it unless you were a long term post-op who was experiencing trouble with
weight gain. The VBG will not keep you away from sweets, but it does work
some to eliminate your desire for some of the fatty foods (like fried
things). Anything very oily makes you nauseated and uncomfortable. If you
are sticking to the suggested meal plan, you will be consuming less than
1000 calories a day and not much fat, so there should be no need to take
drugs to reduce fat absorbtion.
