Question:
How much protein do you have to consume post-op?

My physician recommends 60 grams of protien per day. From what I have read
on this site I believe that is pretty much standard, but as always you
should verify through your physician what his requirements are.

I average 80 grams...our minimum is 60 grams a day. I know some drs. want
you to get to 100 grams but in the beginning that is a tough number to get.
Further out you can do it.

My surgeon recommends 80-90 grams a day, but that is very difficult. I
have one protein supplement at 60 grams, and then eat my protein for about
21 more.

My surgeon told a group of people he spoke to this: 90-120 grams a day
during the first couple years (weight loss phase). Then at least 60 grams
to maintain.
